PLC/Systems Technician*
About the Role
As a PLC Systems Technician at 3M, you will collaborate with innovative and diverse teams globally. This role provides an opportunity to transition from private, public, government, or military experience to a 3M career. You will diagnose, analyze, troubleshoot, service, and repair process and facility equipment while working with a variety of technologies and people.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, analyze, troubleshoot, service, and repair process and facility equipment.
- Perform repair-type maintenance on process controls and facility support equipment, including but not limited to PLC, controls networks, AC/DC drives and motors, servo drives and motion control systems, and pneumatic devices.
- Read and interpret elementary, PID, and industrial controls drawings; interpret PLC logic, blueprints, sketches, vendor drawings, and equipment service manuals.
- Work with engineers, technicians, or craft people during troubleshooting, repair, or modification of equipment, systems, or processes.
- Contribute technical recommendations for the improvement or optimization of facility and process equipment.
- Comply with corporate policies, procedures, and security standards while performing assigned duties.
- Contribute to a strong Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) culture by following safety policies, identifying hazards, and engaging in continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Possess an associate degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in Automation Engineering Technology or Controls Engineering, or be within 6 months of obtaining an associate degree in Automation Engineering Technology or Controls Engineering.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in Automation Engineering Technology or Electrical Controls Maintenance.
- Five (5) years of experience in electrical controls systems maintenance in a private, public, government, or military environment.
- Experience with manufacturing and/or manufacturing technology on web processing equipment.
- Experience working with Allen Bradley controls and drive technologies.
- Experience working with Windows-based computer systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse audience.
Pay
The starting rate of pay for this position is $38.73 to $41.64 per hour. This targeted compensation range can vary based on factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Other benefits and incentives may apply.
