PLC Automation Engineer – Optical Fiber Production

About the role

The PLC Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems used in optical fiber production processes at Prysmian USA's manufacturing facility in Claremont, NC.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement PLC-based control systems for optical fiber production equipment
• Develop and maintain automation software and hardware solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and quality assurance personnel
• Perform system diagnostics and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance
• Document project specifications, procedures, and results for future reference

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in PLC programming and automation systems
• Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLCs and Rockwell Software
• Experience with industrial automation systems and fiber optic technology
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Knowledge of industrial networking protocols such as EtherNet/IP and Profinet
• Experience with SCADA systems and HMI development
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Skills

• Proficient in programming languages such as ladder logic, SFC, and FBD
• Familiarity with safety standards and certifications (e.g., CE, UL)
• Experience with data logging and analysis tools

$94,000 - $127,000 annually
