Job Description
Enlighten is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer with experience in Cloud technology (AWS), programming skills in Go, and a strong Linux foundation. This role involves significant contributions to the development of custom software components and integration of open-source code to address complex problems using cutting-edge Big Data / Cloud technology. The ideal candidate will work autonomously to identify and solve problems while contributing to broader strategic goals set by Architects on the team.
The position is performed in a hybrid environment with a great team. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to operational applications. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Strong systems integrator with an eye for enhancing, optimizing, or increasing robustness of an existing code base.
- Leverage modern tools to define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud.
- Identify and solve complex issues through the use of cutting edge Big Data / Cloud technology.
- Work autonomously to develop and deploy infrastructure in AWS.
- Experience with Kubernetes (or vendor flavor of Kubernetes), Ansible, storage layers (Ceph, Rook, Longhorn, etc.).
- Programming skills with Go.
- Have a solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications, and proficiency in shell scripting (Shell/Bash).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Flexibility to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per week at our Columbia, MD office.
Minimum Qualifications
- Security Clearance - Not required at start, but will be processed for a Secret level clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
- 9+ years of experience in Platform Engineering or Software Development (Go) with a Bachelors in related field; OR 7 years relevant experience with a Masters in related field; OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
- Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
- Experience with Kubernetes (or vendor flavor of Kubernetes), Ansible, storage layers (Ceph, Rook, Longhorn, etc.).
- Experience with programming skills with Go.
- A solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications, and proficiency in shell scripting (Shell/Bash).

Preferred Requirements
- Prior experience or familiarity with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems (e.g. Cloudera’s Distribution of Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, MapR, etc.).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Gitlab-CI, Travis-CI, Jenkins, etc.).
- Understanding of agile software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github, Gitlab, etc.).
- Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, virtualization (Ovirt, Proxmox, VMware, etc.).
- DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required in this position as directed by the customer.

Pay & Schedule
Anticipated Salary Range: $137,510.00 - $185,000.00. The salary range for this role is intended as a good faith estimate based on the role's location, expectations, and responsibilities. When extending an offer, Enlighten takes a variety of factors into consideration which include, but are not limited to, the role's function, internal equity and a candidate's education or training, work experience, certifications and key skills. Occasionally positions/roles may include additional non-recurrent compensation and will be addressed by the recruiter during the interview process.
