About the role

The Proofreader / Platemaker joins the Prepress team to review work produced by internal groups, ensuring production requirements are created correctly. The role operates and monitors plate‑making equipment, makes plates, organizes stock, and oversees production needs and user maintenance on all plate‑making related equipment. The incumbent leads the plate‑making process to produce high‑quality printing plates in accordance with Pollard Banknote’s production requirements, quality standards, and game specifications.

Responsibilities

• Ensure products are reviewed and manufactured in accordance with specifications
• Ensure production schedules are met while minimizing waste
• Maintain optimal product quality through equipment calibration
• Maintain optimal equipment performance via proper set‑up, operation, and preventative maintenance
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives
• Coordinate all machine service from outside vendors
• Troubleshoot plate and plate‑equipment issues
• Ensure preventative‑maintenance schedules are met and keep equipment and work areas clean and organized
• Monitor plate‑room supplies, machine parts, and raw materials; keep work areas tidy
• Conduct daily and weekly safety inspections
• Perform duties safely and ergonomically, adhering to company procedures, health & safety, and security policies
• Proofread production files
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of product specifications
• Ability to read and interpret detailed game specifications
• Knowledge and understanding of pre‑press operations and modern printing technology and processes
• Knowledge of flexographic printing (asset)
• Understanding of and consistent adherence to health & safety, quality, and security standards
• Intermediate software skills, including Microsoft Office and platemaking programs
• Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work
• Basic mechanical skills
• Ability to lift up to 75 lb
• Long duration of concentration in front of a computer
• Verbal and written communication skills
• High School Diploma or GED required
• 1–3 years previous experience in proofreading or pre‑press production (preferred)

Schedule

Three‑day work week, 12‑hour shifts.
