Job Description
Wilsonart in Temple, Texas has openings for Plate Change Operators. The Temple Pressing department currently has openings for Plate Operators.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Evaluates the daily press schedule to identify required plate changes across the department
- Notes plate change information such as press, size, run, finish, etc.
- Aligns plate tables so plates going into/out of production are centered for lifts
- Identifies plate damage and alerts product quality
- Handles the movement of stainless-steel plates, carrier plates and plate pallets/tables
- Efficiently operates breakout lifts 70 and 71 from within the plate change area
- Takes exceptional care of all pressing plates throughout the duration of the process
- Replaces propane cylinders on forklifts at beginning of shift
- Trains other team members on the process
- Rotates into other positions as needed
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards
- Knowledge of the pressing manufacturing process and component materials utilized
- Knowledge of the level of quality material must meet
- Skill in operating a lift truck
- Skill in establishing effective working relationships with other personnel
- Skill in identifying finishes
- Skill in reading and accurately recording information on production schedules/logs
- Skill in organizing and prioritizing work schedules and material assets
- Skill in working independently without close supervision and as a team member
- Ability to identify plate imperfections and defects
- Ability to communicate well in oral and written forms at all levels of the organization
- Ability to learn new skills
- Ability & skill required to rotate into layup positions as needed
Minimum Requirements
- EXPERIENCE: 1+ YEAR—One year of work experience, plus must have 6 months experience working in the Pressing department and demonstrated competency of front & back-end layup/breakout.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight 50 to100 lbs.
- ENVIRONMENT: Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature extremes, loud noises and bright lights. Examples: mail clerks, material handlers and food service workers
