Plastics Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Work safely at all times while supporting Penn Color’s strong commitment to safety, quality, and ISO 9001 standards
  • Aid with daily laboratory operations and workflow activities within the Plastics R&D Lab
  • Learn and operate various sample preparation and processing equipment after completing training, including: Extruders, Roll mills, Chippers, Pulverizers, Premixing equipment
  • Support extrusion trials, sample preparation, and injection molding activities
  • Develop foundational color correction and color evaluation skills through hands-on training
  • Utilize quality control equipment and spectrophotometers to support product testing and evaluation
  • Navigate Oracle, RM systems, and laboratory workflows with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with team members regarding projects, priorities, and results
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Production, and other internal teams
  • Support multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Education & Experience

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 0–2 years of related experience in manufacturing, plastics processing, laboratory environments, or color matching preferred
  • Exposure to processing equipment or manufacturing operations is a plus
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate software systems
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow within a technical environment
  • Comfortable working collaboratively within a team and taking direction from experienced team members
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to multitask effectively
