Responsibilities

  • Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs, including unsuitable plasma units and samples.
  • Verify the accuracy of unit labeling by comparing pre-printed labels with dynamic labels.
  • Utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use heat sealer to maintain the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples per SOPs.
  • Pack and ship plasma units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures.
  • Prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation.
  • Maintain clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed.
  • Monitor and record freezer and refrigerator temperatures, and inform appropriate personnel if equipment is malfunctioning.
  • Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
  • Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
  • Understand and comply with policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
  • May require bilingual skills, depending on organizational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in laboratory or warehouse environment preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic math calculations ability.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Physical requirements: Understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions; occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of time; reach, bend, kneel, and have high level of manual dexterity; occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds; frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood borne pathogens; required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas; required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
  • Mental requirements: Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions; ability to instruct donors, staff, and community regarding the benefits of plasma donation programs.
