Responsibilities
- Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
- Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs, including unsuitable plasma units and samples.
- Verify the accuracy of unit labeling by comparing pre-printed labels with dynamic labels.
- Utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use heat sealer to maintain the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples.
- Pack and ship plasma units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures.
- Prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation.
- Maintain clean and efficient work environment.
- Monitor and record freezer and refrigerator temperatures, and inform appropriate personnel if equipment is malfunctioning.
- Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
- Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
- Understand and comply with policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center, if applicable.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
- May require bilingual skills, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) months experience in laboratory or warehouse environment preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic math calculations ability.
- Understanding, remembering, and applying oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of time.
- Reach, bend, kneel, and have high level of manual dexterity.
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent interruptions and fast-paced environment.
- Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood borne pathogens.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
- May be required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
