About the role
Maintains and operates boilers, HVAC, and auxiliary plant utilities equipment in commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and adjusts equipment controls to correct malfunctions.
- Reads and records gas, steam, water, and electrical meter readings.
- Fills out plant logs and reports.
- Advises supervisors on repair needs.
- Receives and distributes fuel supplies.
- Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC systems.
- Uses chemicals to treat water in HVAC systems.
- Cleans and maintains strainers, coils, steam traps, filters, and window air conditioners.
- Performs minor repairs and assists in the maintenance and overhaul of boilers and stationary equipment.
- Performs semiskilled plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration work under supervision.
- Determines if water regulator valves need rebuilding or repair.
- Threads, sells, glues, and installs pipes.
- Re-packs pumps and valves.
- Assists in monitoring and operating building management and automation systems.
- Performs minor repairs and assists in the repair, maintenance, and operation of plant alarm and signal systems.
- Responds to mechanical, electrical, or plumbing breakdowns during night shifts, weekends, or holidays.
- Provides instruction to labor class positions on routine jobs and equipment inspections.
Requirements
- One year of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, HVAC, and/or auxiliary plant utilities equipment.
- Valid Driver's License required.
