Plant Utility Trainee
About the role
The general utility trainee will perform sanitation duties, line inspections, and rework tasks. This includes line break sanitation, removing stagnant product, mixing and handling chemicals, and end-of-cycle cleaning. They will also inspect raw and finished product, remove foreign materials and quality defects, and perform firewatch duties as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform sanitation duties, including line break sanitation and end-of-cycle cleaning
- Inspect raw and finished product for foreign materials and quality defects
- Rework finished cased product meeting hourly/daily targets through bag blending, opening, and removing bags from cases
- Communicate, comprehend, and follow instructions in English (both written and oral)
- Pass practical performance and written sanitation exams
- Operate work-related equipment safely and efficiently
- Participate in safety and GMP programs
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree
- Must be able to communicate, comprehend, and follow instructions in English (both written and oral)
- Must be able to pass both practical performance and written sanitation exam
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements
- Exposure to manufacturing environments: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, humidity, oils, smells, and allergens
- Ability to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment
- Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance required
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Exposure to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant Operation
- May have to sample food while evaluating Lamb Weston products
- Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis
Qualifications
- Must be able to communicate, comprehend, and follow instructions in English (both written and oral)
- Must be able to pass both practical performance and written sanitation exam
- Physical demands: ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, walk, bend, stoop, shovel, twist and turn frequently, wear sanitation suit in varying temperatures, operate work-related equipment safely and efficiently
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Exposure to manufacturing environments: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, humidity, oils, smells, and allergens

Pay
A reasonable hourly estimate for this role is $22.21. Actual compensation may vary based on various factors, including work location, job duties, experience, and expertise.
