Plant Operator Trainee

Summary

Bering Global Solutions, a company within the BSNC family, is seeking a qualified Plant Operator Trainee for the BOS contract in Chesapeake, VA. Applicants will be contacted via phone or email within ten (10) business days of submittal.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled janitorial duties.
• Clean tanks using a fire hose or pressure washer on a scheduled basis.
• Paint equipment and structures as needed.
• Carry out planned maintenance and cleaning of plant equipment.
• Conduct plant rounds.
• Pull samples for analysis.
• Assist with laboratory duties and deliveries.
• Operate a sludge press.
• Perform general grounds work when required.
• Pick up deliveries.
• Keep operators supplied with materials and tools.
• Clean work areas, machines, and equipment being serviced.
• Assist operators by holding materials or tools.
• Perform other unskilled tasks as directed by operators.
• Advance to operator status by completing required licensing tests within the two‑year timeline set by Bering Global Solutions; failure to do so may result in termination.
• Study approved material during downtime with operator approval.

Qualifications

• Pass a background check.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Possess basic tools needed for maintenance tasks.
• High school education or equivalent.
• Pass a drug screening.
• 3–5 years of experience in maintenance and repairs.
• Willingness to work a rotating schedule that includes shift work.
• Willingness to work scheduled holidays and possible overtime.

• Good mechanical skills to handle equipment safely and avoid injuries.
• Preferred: Facility maintenance experience with the Department of Defense.

Physical Requirements

• Maintain a constant state of mental alertness.
• Ability to bend, stoop, sit, walk, or stand for prolonged periods.
• Lift and carry weights up to 50 lb.

Work Environment

The position is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to a variety of weather conditions.

Supervisory Responsibilities

No supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Qualifying Factors

• Pass a pre‑employment drug screening.
• Provide acceptable background check results.
• If applicable to the contract, obtain the required security clearance and access to military installations.
