About the role

Obeys all plant/safety rules and complies with all OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Collects and evaluates scrap material from various departments to sort as applicable and place into baler to be converted into bales.
• Evaluates various types of scrap and strives for optimum salvage.
• Operates mechanical equipment in recycling scrap material.
• Operates wire binder on baler.
• Maintains weight of bales for record keeping.
• Places bale in storage area for disposal.
• Reports repairs needed for train cars and gondolas to supervisor.
• Maintains operation of batteries for all industrial power trucks.
• Maintains power truck batteries to prolong the batteries and chargers life.
• Maintains records pertaining to the history of chargers on a weekly and batteries on a daily basis.

Requirements

• Experience Required: Mechanical knowledge is recommended.
• Education Required: GED or High School Diploma required.
