Plant Support

Obeys all plant and safety rules and complies with OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Collect and evaluate scrap material from various departments, sort as applicable, and place into a baler for conversion into bales.
• Evaluate various types of scrap to achieve optimum salvage.
• Operate mechanical equipment for recycling scrap material, including the wire binder on the baler.
• Maintain weight records of bales for record‑keeping.
• Place completed bales in the storage area for disposal.
• Report repairs needed for train cars and gondolas to a supervisor.
• Maintain operation and care of batteries for all industrial power trucks, including chargers, to extend their life.
• Keep daily battery logs and weekly charger history records.

Requirements

• Mechanical knowledge is recommended.
• GED or High School Diploma required.
