About the Role

This engineer/engineering analyst role will be responsible for engineering-related activities at a power generating plant, specifically at either Plant Yates (Newnan, Ga.) or Plant Wansley (Franklin, Ga.). The position supports the development of new advanced-class generation technology to meet customer load growth. Responsibilities include providing technical support, developing long-term plans and budgets, managing capital and O&M projects, and troubleshooting plant electrical and mechanical systems. The role also involves equipment inspection, performance improvement recommendations, and serving as a system owner and troubleshooting resource for operations and maintenance.

This role may also include Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) administration, involving engagement with Mitsubishi Power Americas/Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for contract performance, equipment reliability tracking, technical bulletin compliance, parts coverage, maintenance intervals, budget tracking, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outage and project management, including project budget management and long-term maintenance strategies.
  • Develop 5- and 10-year capital budgets and justifications for associated projects.
  • Provide monthly accruals and budget variance explanations to the Financial Analyst.
  • Monitor plant performance and recommend improvements to heat rate and unit reliability.
  • Serve as a system owner for assigned systems and coordinate project work, including contract administration.
  • Utilize computer business tools (e.g., Maximo work order management system) to monitor equipment performance, develop budgets, plan project scope, and prepare reports.
  • Initiate, troubleshoot, and review root cause analyses for system equipment failures.
  • Collaborate with Southern Company Services, OEMs, and system owners at other plants to stay current on upgrades or concerns and communicate these to plant and corporate management.
  • Administer Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA) as assigned, including tracking equipment performance, ensuring vendor compliance with technical bulletins, managing parts and maintenance coverage, and reporting.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program/institution.
  • Experience in an industrial facility with a focus on mechanical/electrical project or design, involving maintenance of equipment such as pumps/motors, valves, fans, condensers, boilers, turbines, PLCs, distributed control systems, and industrial electrical switchgear.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Strong technical expertise and problem-solving abilities.

Additional Details

  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.
  • May require extended work hours and on-call availability for the plant.
  • Minimal travel required (up to 25%).
