Plant Operator (Cylinder Filler/Loader)
About the role
We are hiring a Plant Operator (Cylinder Filler/Loader) in Cheektowaga, NY. The position involves safely handling and filling gas products into various types of cylinders, loading/unloading cylinders, and supporting alignment with government and company standards.
Responsibilities
- Safely handle and fill gas products into liquid, medical, and high-pressure gas cylinders
- Meet all safety standards in loading and unloading of cylinder gases
- Perform cylinder analyses and support alignment with government and company standards
- Calculate gas mixtures to meet quality standards and document results
- Identify and coordinate cylinder and valve combinations to ensure compatibility with the mix and compliance
- Operate control panels with a precision-oriented approach to gas mixtures
- Complete all meaningful records to accurately capture all production actions
- Uphold and promote company procedures and government regulations relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials
- Safely operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse/material-handling equipment
- Load/unload cylinders on/off pallets, ensuring they are strapped in
- Contribute to team success as needed
Requirements
- High school degree or GED required
- Mechanical aptitude
- Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and related rules, regulations, procedures
- A minimum of 1 year of related technical experience
- In lieu of specific industry experience, may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience utilizing SAP or similar ERP system
- Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
