About the Role
As a Plant Manager, you’ll oversee our two Chesterfield, MI locations, as well as our Troy, MI location, working as an on-site employee. You’ll assume overall leadership of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Inventory, and People (SQCDIP) for products and processes, with complete responsibility for the site(s) financial performance.
You’ll directly interact with all support functions—including Commercial, Advanced Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, Security, HR, Finance, Engineering, and Supply Chain—to ensure increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of labor, materials, and machines.
Responsibilities
- Support new product development plans by collaborating with product managers to improve product profiles, cost, standards, profits, and availability.
- Lead and manage policy deployment in Lean Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, digital factory, and plant performance measures.
- Provide plant and team leadership through visioning, goal-setting, performance management, coaching, communication, employee engagement, development, and relations.
- Drive root cause analysis and effective problem-solving to yield immediate and long-term corrective actions and sustainable enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations (e.g., OSHA) and company policies, including cost control, human resources, on-time delivery, quality, safety, and waste reduction.
- Manage material requirements to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand.
- Develop and manage an accurate annual budget, provide analysis for forecasting changes, and support IBP/S&OP by monitoring demand and supply forecasts.
- Plan, budget, and manage operations headcount needs to drive strong labor efficiencies.
- Identify, justify, communicate, and drive implementation of capital investments and improvement projects.
- Balance work cell loading across the plant and optimize material flow.
- Benchmark and drive the effective application of best practices and upskilling of associates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive manufacturing operations leadership experience in a multi-shift, multi-site environment, managing multiple business functions.
- Experience with plastic injection molding, cold forming, and tier I automotive supplier operations.
- Site P&L responsibility experience.
- Certification in Lean or Six Sigma (a plus).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001-2015, AS9100, and IATF 16949.
