About the role

The Plant Manager is responsible for leadership, management, and performance of Sanmina’s Plastics Production facility in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. This role involves supporting the overall business strategy by providing direction to facility operations, building a strong leadership-oriented production team, and ensuring outstanding customer products and services through high quality, competitive costs, and on-time delivery. The Plant Manager will drive continuous improvement, implement new technologies, and ensure compliance with company policies and laws while maximizing long-term facility value.

This position requires a change-agent and team player who can introduce contemporary operational practices and create high-performance work teams. The Plant Manager must be metrics-driven, ensuring solid systems and processes, and must effectively communicate the need for cultural change to motivate action and results.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties

  • Report to the VP/GM of Precision Plastics and Medical Disposables and collaborate with the local team to develop a multi-year operations strategy embracing Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Develop a high-performance, leadership-oriented production team.
  • Provide leadership to motivate, develop, and guide the organization toward achieving operational goals.
  • Direct operations to ensure compliance with quality, cost, delivery, and performance standards.
  • Obtain planned results and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and effective customer relations.

  • Foster a safe and environmentally responsible operations environment.
  • Maintain plant property and equipment to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and economical operations.
  • Build organizational talent by attracting, developing, and retaining skilled individuals in a learning-focused environment.
  • Mobilize resources effectively, including negotiating for resources outside the immediate domain when necessary.
  • Engage in strategic decision-making by analyzing relevant information and committing to actionable plans.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of injection molding experience.
  • Proven change leadership, including seeking innovative approaches to organizational challenges.
  • Strong skills in empowerment and delegation, fostering ownership and encouraging growth beyond current capabilities.
  • Ability to build trust through effective interactions and confidence in organizational intentions.
  • Experience in team development, using appropriate methods to guide teams toward successful outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adjust language for impact.
  • Persuasiveness to influence others and drive adoption of specific agendas or actions.
  • Business acumen, including the ability to utilize economic, financial, and industry data for strategic decision-making.
  • Customer orientation, ensuring the customer perspective drives value-added business activities.
  • Ability to develop strategic relationships with business partners, vendors, and alliance partners.
  • Adaptability to maintain effectiveness amid major changes in work tasks or environment.
  • Learning orientation, demonstrating and encouraging a zeal for new knowledge and challenges.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing philosophies, operations, processes, and technologies.
  • Demonstrated competence in lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement systems (e.g., Six Sigma, TOC, or Lean Manufacturing).
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, tools, and procedures (e.g., ISO 9001, 13485, 14001, and ITAR).
  • Excellent understanding of capital and expense budget management.
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems and lead teams in problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and personal computer skills.
  • Undergraduate degree in a business/manufacturing-related field (e.g., finance, engineering, business).

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA.
