About the role
The Plant Manager oversees the daily operations of the manufacturing facility, focusing on quality, efficiency, and meeting customer expectations. Key responsibilities include driving strategic plans, managing production schedules, leading Lean Manufacturing initiatives, and ensuring profitability.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the facility produces the highest quality products efficiently within budgeted costs.
- Implements systems to manage production schedules and support business needs.
- Drives Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques to foster continuous improvement.
- Acts proactively in resolving problems and managing profit and loss.
- Manages strategic planning efforts including cost reduction initiatives, capital planning, and resource management.
- Oversees safety, quality, scheduling, production, shipping, maintenance, and administrative functions.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and efficient operation adhering to company guidelines and regulations.
- Improves the plant’s safety accident record annually while fostering a positive safety culture.
- Conducts weekly safety walks and talent reviews.
- Trains, develops, and motivates staff to optimize the workforce.
- Schedules and conducts plant communication meetings for all employees.
- Interfaces with customers and suppliers, visiting as necessary.
- Works to establish positive community relationships.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business Management preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in operations, maintenance, engineering, and/or process improvement roles, including managing teams.
- Previous experience in a Lean environment, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification preferred.
- Proven experience and record of success in a high-speed manufacturing environment, especially in plastic injection molding and metal processing.
- Experience with process development and business process design.
- Experience managing to ISO or equivalent quality standards.
- Experience implementing and/or managing to an Operating System (e.g., Toyota Production Systems).
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus, but not required.
