About the Role
A key member of the Manufacturing Team, the Plant Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for a 200,000 sq. ft. high-volume, single-shift manufacturing operation. This role oversees day-to-day operations to achieve safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives while driving process improvements and leading a large team.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations of the plant to achieve company business and financial objectives.
- Ensure manufacturing performance and quality goals are met, with P&L responsibility including managing BOMs, personnel wages, incentive programs, and raw material procurement.
- Provide leadership for large employee populations, optimizing resources to support company goals and customer service.
- Monitor and evaluate workflows and assembly methods, making recommendations for process improvements.
- Build and track performance goals related to Productivity, Safety, and Quality.
- Partner with merchandising and buying teams to ensure timely development approvals, production schedule fulfillment, and resource optimization within budget.
- Lead Operational Efficiency initiatives using a data-driven, results-oriented approach to support company strategic objectives.
- Educate department managers and team members on key performance improvement indicators, best practices, and improvement initiatives.
- Design and implement flexible staffing strategies to respond to workflow variations.
- Develop and enforce processes to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Lead and develop managers and employees using performance management tools to enhance individual and company performance.
- Communicate and educate employees on work instructions, policies, procedures, and process improvements.
- Standardize and share best practices across other manufacturing sites.
- Ensure proper control, maintenance, protection, and utilization of company physical assets (building, equipment, inventory, etc.).
- Drive continuous improvement in operational efficiencies through process enhancements.
- Assist in developing LEAN training classes and implement policies to improve manufacturing operations.
- Work cross-functionally with direct and support departments to drive best practices and improvement initiatives.
- Lead company and department OKRs (objectives and key results) as required.
- Develop and execute business strategies to meet board and shareholder goals.
- Identify and develop future leaders through succession planning.
- Provide strategic advice to direct reports for accurate market and company vision.
- Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated and followed at all levels.
- Build and maintain trust relationships with shareholders, business partners, and authorities.
- Delegate responsibilities and supervise direct reports to drive maximum performance.
- Partner with HR leadership to attract, hire, promote, engage, and retain the workforce, including highly skilled roles.
- Bolster employee morale and ensure overall team engagement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of leadership experience successfully building and leading 100+ member teams in high-volume manufacturing.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
- High-volume furniture manufacturing background or equivalent is desired.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) is desirable.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); AX system experience preferred.
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing is preferred.
Pay
The hiring pay range is a good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage expected upon hire. Pay is determined by factors including education, relevant work experience, skills, market demand, company budget, and internal equity. Overtime pay is available for eligible, non-exempt team members.
