About the role
The Plant Manager leads a large, multi-shift manufacturing operation, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused operations. This role drives operational excellence, develops strong leadership capability, and aligns plant performance with Emerson's strategic priorities and values.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership for plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, materials and production scheduling, ensuring consistent achievement of safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
- Establish, track, and improve operational performance through the effective use of metrics and key performance indicators, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Led and sustain continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance plant performance.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements and leading efforts toward zero incidents.
- Build, coach, and develop a high performing leadership team across production, maintenance, quality, and support functions, creating a culture of engagement, trust, and accountability.
- Partner with Human Resources to support workforce planning, training, succession planning, and positive employee and labor relations in non-union environments.
- Ensure product quality meets customer and regulatory expectations by leading root cause analysis, corrective actions, and prevention strategies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, procurement, engineering, and commercial teams to align priorities, manage capacity, and support forecasted growth.
- Lead talent development through effective hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management, while supporting long-term succession planning.
- Lead in alignment with Emerson policies, ethical standards, and operational practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including 5+ years in plant or operations leadership.
- Experience managing large facilities and multi-shift operations.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, team building, problem-solving, and conflict management skills.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, with the ability to integrate safety expectations into daily operations and lead teams toward continuous improvement in safety performance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Deep knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Solid financial acumen (budgeting, cost control, P&L responsibility).
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be comfortable presenting to executive level leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change.
