About the role
The Plant Foreperson is responsible for safely controlling production and load out of materials produced in the batch plant, scheduling and ensuring timely delivery of supplies, and performing duties in conjunction with dispatch loading operations.
Responsibilities
- Enforce company safety rules and conduct safety meetings, including toolbox talks; ensure facilities operate safely.
- Accurately batch concrete loads according to specifications.
- Read dispatch orders and understand production needs.
- Conduct batching operations efficiently and safely while complying with OSHA, MSHA, DEP, and other regulations.
- Print and file invoice tickets for each truck/load; provide copies to drivers for customer payment.
- Maintain plant equipment and trucks; perform maintenance such as greasing, cleaning, and repairs.
- Become proficient in batching, dispatching, and Quality Control Software.
- Manage plant inventory with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
- Understand appropriate uses of various mix designs.
- Complete daily clerical functions, including paperwork, customer tickets, inbound materials, packing slips, and bank deposits.
- Assist dispatch in scheduling drivers based on customer demand and help drivers locate jobsites.
- Identify and resolve regulatory, safety, personnel, and production problems promptly.
- Display professionalism and courtesy to co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Travel and work away from home as required; work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Adhere to safety and company policies, including the Manual of Safety Practices and Company Book of Policies.
- Work in a team environment and assist with other duties as needed.
- Maintain timely and regular attendance.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Carry out supervisory duties in line with company policies and laws.
- Develop subordinates’ technical and leadership skills; recommend new job opportunities.
- Manage employee performance through coaching, feedback, rewards, and discipline.

Requirements
- High school degree required; one to two years of related experience and/or training preferred.
- Management experience preferred.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
- Ability and willingness to pass ACI Level One certification preferred.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective communication with customers and employees.
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic and problem-solving with concrete variables.
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions.
- Proficient with Windows, Excel, and Word.

Physical Requirements
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear.
- Frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally sit.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Physical demands include frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, and lifting (10–100 lbs).
Work Environment
- Regularly work near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor weather conditions.
- Exposure to wet, humid, airborne particles, extreme heat or cold, and occasional vibration.
- Loud noise levels may require personal protective equipment.
- Frequent exposure to hot/cold weather, wet conditions, noise, high heat, and moving equipment.
