About the role

Direct and coordinate overall operations of Manufacturing within the facility, including Safety, Production, Shipping and Receiving, Quality, and Maintenance/Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Direct interaction with Department Managers and Supervisors, along with Engineering, to review, assess, and set focus to address manufacturing issues (Safety, Productivity, Quality, and employee capability improvement).
  • Address personnel issues within the facility through collaboration with Department Managers and Supervisors.
  • Develop division goals aligned with corporate objectives in conjunction with other Managers.
  • Apply mechanical aptitude and understanding of equipment capabilities to make decisions and resolve daily manufacturing issues.
  • Assist departments in identifying whether issues stem from operators, methods, or machines and determine required actions.
  • Lead Safety efforts as the Center of Excellence and actively participate in Safety Committees to eliminate accidents/injuries.
  • Monitor backlog and schedules with Department Managers and Production Control to determine production focus.
  • Evaluate direct reports, establish performance goals, and conduct detailed, accurate, and timely evaluations.
  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure product quality meets specifications.
  • Develop plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to identify causes of nonconformity and operational problems.
  • Seek improvement opportunities and implement actions to benefit APC’s success, including profit improvement plans and long/short-term division goals.
  • Recommend Capital projects to improve Safety, Productivity, and Quality.
  • Monitor divisional spending through departmental reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to Plant Safety Rules, GMPs, and procedural training requirements.
  • Ensure all manufacturing personnel follow GMPs and use food-safe materials and methods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises Manufacturing Department Managers and Engineers.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent.
  • 10 years of related manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in Extrusion Laminating and/or Coating preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Healthy work ethic and ability to take responsibility for assigned work.

Physical Demands

  • Moving throughout the facility, including between and on top of machinery.
  • Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Accessing materials and equipment from various areas of the facility, including high places.
  • Frequent communication with co-workers to exchange accurate information.
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Manual lifting not to exceed 50 lbs (refer to department-specific Job Hazard Analysis for restrictions).

Work Environment

  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and fumes or airborne particles.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
