Plant Manager
About the role
This position directs the day-to-day and strategic activities of a highly complex, large plant to achieve financial and operating objectives as determined by the Business Unit. The Plant Manager is a key leadership role which manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for safety, production, maintenance, warehouse, quality, customer relations, human resources, and finance. This position serves as the senior representative locally and is responsible for compliance with the Amcor code of conduct and for ensuring plant compliance with all regulations (federal and local), as well as other Amcor policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Leadership: Organize activities and identify resources required to achieve Plant, Business Unit, and overall company goals and objectives. Practice and implement Six Sigma.
- Production: Oversee overall plant operation at standard cost while producing quality ware, on time and within customer specifications to maintain and grow market share.
- Financial: Control operating expenses to achieve low variances within target-to-actual cost comparisons while identifying and justifying capital expenditures.
- Quality: Manage raw materials and processes to meet customer requirements and produce product efficiently. Oversee ISO 9000/2000 compliance.
- Business Planning: Develop and manage a business plan incorporating ISO, FDA, and other government regulations, financial goals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety): Ensure the plant is free of hazards to employees, providing a safe work environment in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (ISO 18000, ISO 14000).
- Employee Relations: Communicate plant performance, training objectives, quality concerns, labor needs, and production process changes to maintain morale. Manage a team of direct reports, including selection, development, mentoring, and performance management. Cultivate an environment of safety, high performance, ethical and legal compliance, and address employee relations issues.
- Managerial Responsibilities: Manage departmental managers who supervise facility personnel. Oversee the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the facility, including interviewing, addressing complaints, problem-solving, and coordinating financial and operational responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Material Science, Engineering, or Packaging preferred).
- Ten or more years of related experience or the combined equivalent.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond in group environments.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics.
