Plant Manager - Aggregate
About the Role
The basic function of the Plant Manager (Underground) is to provide the necessary leadership to plan, direct, organize, coordinate and control the mining of raw materials and the production of shippable product at the assigned Plant in a manner to meet Aggregate Dispatcher requests on a timely and cost-efficient basis. The Plant Manager will ensure that an appropriate quality product is made at the Plant, proper staffing is maintained, and inventory status is monitored. The role involves coordinating activities with the Aggregate Operations Department (Dispatch), Fleet Maintenance Department, Quality Control Department, and Regional Administration/Financial function.
The Plant Manager will analyze and monitor production efficiency and productivity to ensure full utilization of on-site vehicles and plant equipment. The role includes developing mining and production strategies to raise productivity levels while maintaining safety as a top priority and controlling costs.
Responsibilities
- Consistently identify new operational opportunities and develop strategies for improved efficiency and productivity.
- Address customer needs while promoting and protecting the long-term interests of the Company.
- Initiate and implement production and scheduling programs, strategies, and techniques to increase productivity and maintain safe operations within budget.
- Manage subordinate personnel, work independently, meet deadlines, and ensure fiscal integrity of the assigned Plant.
- Delegate responsibilities, objectively evaluate subordinate performance, and hold others accountable constructively.
- Participate in Company safety inspections and MSHA inspections.
- Communicate with site crew, including plant operators, loader operators, and laborers. Depending on labor situation and plant size, may assist with loading or operating equipment.
- Supervise the team to maintain production and efficiency, schedule production, and execute preventative maintenance routines.
- Maintain sufficient inventory levels to service customer needs.
- Demonstrate a commitment to health, safety, and environmental policies, promoting a culture of safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (Field of Study Preferred: Mining Engineering, Management).
- 5-7 years of Aggregate Mining and related Raw Materials Plant Production Experience.
- Computer proficiency required; SAP experience is a plus.
- Adherence to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize-approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass fit tests.
