Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Visually inspects and tests machinery, tools and equipment to assure proper working condition.
- Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with appropriate personnel to diagnose problem or repair machine.
- Dismantles defective machines, tools and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, as well as telephone and other communication lines or equipment.
- Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems, including facility plumbing, and hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Repairs and maintains physical structure and appearance of establishment. Includes the performance or oversight of cleaning, painting, repairing furniture or fixtures, moving or installing furniture or fixtures, disposal of trash, recyclables, hazardous material, etc.
- Install programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, milling machine, etc. to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
- Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other structures which may be wood, drywall, metal, glass or other construction material.
- Licensed and capable of operating a motor vehicle. Skilled to drive and operate a forklift.
- Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of the department and the company.
- Uses interpersonal skills as well as good written and verbal communications.
- Performs any training of other employees in maintenance and repair functions as required.
- Assists other Company personnel as required.
- Maintains and repairs machines, tools and equipment as well as physical plant and furnishings at highest levels of complexity.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to perform routine duties where a high level of independent judgment and action are required.
