Plant Maintenance / Pipefitter
About the role
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on various piping systems, including but not limited to hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, and water lines. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to execute piping installations and repairs accurately. Cut, thread, bend, and weld pipes according to specifications, utilizing a variety of materials such as steel, copper, and PVC. Inspect and test piping systems for leaks, pressure, and proper functionality. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with pumps, valves, and other related mechanical equipment. Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools. Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, including Lockout/Tagout procedures and confined space entry. Collaborate with other maintenance team members and production personnel to minimize downtime and optimize plant operations. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and material usage accurately. Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or equivalent vocational training in pipefitting, resulting in Journeyman Certification.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a pipefitter or industrial maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG, Stick) and pipe joining methods.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and P&IDs.
- General knowledge and use of measuring tools, hand tools, pipe wrenches, powered hand tools, woodworking equipment, and some machine equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of industrial safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions.
- Willing to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
