Plant Maintenance - Maintenance Technician

Position Scope/Summary

Accountability & Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components according to schematics, blueprints, or technical drawings.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in machinery as well as throughout the overall facility.
  • Perform minor construction tasks around the facility like painting and drywall repairs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support new equipment installations or modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Able to work emergency call-ins and mandatory overtime including weekends.
  • Perform other functions as requested by management.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Electro-Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
  • Minimum Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, PLCs, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and vacuum systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic instruments, and maintenance software.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and all other PPE requirements for the position.
  • Able to enter and attend permit required confined space.
  • Mobile Equipment Certified.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Industrial electrical experience preferred.
  • Experience in an industrial production setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of Pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical systems preferred.
  • Experience with HVAC a plus.
  • Knowledge of machinery operating software/hardware such as PLC’s and VFD controls and hands-on experience with installing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing Electrical & Electronic Control Systems and components preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation and use trade mathematics along with precision measuring/testing instruments preferred.
  • Knowledge of sensors and monitoring devices for temperature, flow, pressure, voltage, current and other parameters preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Good hand eye coordination.
  • Will spend extended periods of time standing and walking extensively throughout the facility.
  • Able to climb ladders and conduct aerial work on platforms.
  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, bend and twist.

Environmental Working Conditions

  • Moving mechanical parts.
  • High, precarious places.
  • Fumes or airborne particles.
  • Toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Risk of electrical shock.
  • Vibration.

Qualifications

The associate must successfully complete the general RCRA Awareness training through the onboarding training process upon their start at Viant followed by an annual refresher. If the associate changes their position or begins to handle larger quantities of chemical waste (Above 20 gals.) at a time, additional training will be required.
