About the role
Performs responsible technical and supervisory work in directing a program of building maintenance and heating plant operations at the New Hampshire State Prison for Men and other related work as required. This position involves daily, close, and immediate contact with prisoners and carries responsibility for security.
Pay
$19.96 – $26.41 per hour. This position receives Hazardous Duty Pay of $60 biweekly (not included in the hourly rate above).
Schedule
6:30 AM – 2:30 PM, with Sundays and Mondays off. Must be available for on-call rotations to respond to emergencies outside regular hours, including nights and weekends, in accordance with departmental policy.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee building maintenance and heating plant operations at the New Hampshire State Prison for Men.
- Supervise maintenance programs and ensure compliance with security protocols.
- Respond to emergencies and provide timely assistance during off-hours as required.
Requirements
- Equivalent combination of 3 years of education and experience after high school in engineering, building trades, maintenance, repair, or construction of buildings.
- At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory-level position.
- Valid driver’s license and access to transportation for statewide travel.
- Must pass security and background screenings required for correctional environments.
- Willingness to work extended or flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, for emergency response.
