About the role
This position receives Hazardous Duty Pay, which is paid biweekly at $60 (not included in salary above).
Responsibilities
- Performs responsible technical and supervisory work in directing a program of building maintenance and heating plant operations at the New Hampshire State Prison for Men and other related work as required.
- Works in close and immediate contact with prisoners on a daily basis, having responsibility for security.
Requirements
- Equivalent combination of 3 years of education and experience after completion of high school.
- Education and experience must be in engineering, building trades, maintenance, repair or construction of buildings, 1 year of which must have been in a supervisory level position.
- Valid Drivers License access to transportation for statewide travel.
Qualifications
- Must pass security and background screenings required for correctional environments.
- Must be available for on call through rotating schedule for off hours coverage to respond to emergencies and requests for timely assistance, in accordance with departmental policy.
- Must be willing to work an extended and/or flexible schedule, to include nights and weekends for emergency response to needs at the facility.
Skills
- Technical knowledge of building maintenance and heating plant operations.
- Ability to supervise and manage a team of maintenance workers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with prisoners and staff.
Benefits
- Hazardous Duty Pay ($60 per biweekly period).
Pay
- $19.96/hour - $26.41/hour
Schedule
- Schedule 6:30 - 2:30 with Sundays and Mondays off.
