About the role
The Starbucks Roasting Plant Lead assists the supervisor in managing day-to-day operations, ensuring task completion and adherence to quality, inventory, and customer service standards. This role involves leading and executing various manufacturing, distribution, and green coffee operations tasks, maintaining a safe and organized work environment, and providing training and coaching to team members.
Responsibilities
- Audit assigned functional areas daily to ensure quality, inventory accuracy, and customer service standards are met.
- Lead and carry out daily manufacturing, distribution, or green coffee operations tasks.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Oversee the execution of the master sanitation schedule.
- Provide training and coaching to team members on standard operating procedures, quality, and safety procedures and regulations.
- Recommend process improvements and support process and business changes.
- Create staffing schedules and communicate with temporary staffing agencies as needed.
- Review line communication boards for continuous improvement suggestions, enter work orders into the maintenance tracking system for issues requiring follow-up.
- Review and update Kronos to ensure accurate partner timesheets.
- Demonstrate and understand safety as a core value, follow safety guidelines, and actively engage in safety initiatives.
- Support food safety, legal, and quality programs.
- Maintain product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications, and quality procedures.
- Perform other duties as needed to support business objectives and Starbucks Mission & Values.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
Requirements
- Experience with manufacturing or distribution environments (4 years).
- High School Diploma/GED or 4+ years of US military service.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to follow verbal direction.
- Quickly assess and prioritize needs in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Manufacturing or automated distribution or warehouse systems (1 year).
- Team-building skills.
- Ability to provide technical leadership.
- Proficient computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to coach and mentor others.
- Ability to work with a diverse team environment.
- Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality, and sanitation standards, policies, and procedures.
- Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (FDA Code of Federal Regulations) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
- Experience with the GFSI certification schemes (i.e., BRC and/or SQF) (preferred).
