Plant IT Support Specialist

About the Role

Employees in this role are responsible for ensuring reliable and efficient operations of physical or virtual servers, private cloud, networks (including telecommunication), PCs, and other business-critical infrastructure components. They oversee the technology infrastructure that supports the business, provide technical support to internal users, troubleshoot issues, and escalate problems that impact system health. Additionally, they set up user systems and operating systems, supporting a multi-shift operation in a manufacturing plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage systems, mainframes, telecommunication networks, and virtualization platforms.
• Collaborate with security teams to implement and maintain security measures like firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
• Configure and maintain networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, QoS, wireless access points) for seamless communication.
• Establish and maintain data backup and recovery procedures for business continuity.
• Monitor system usage patterns to identify and resolve potential issues proactively.
• Analyze system capacity and performance trends to anticipate future infrastructure needs.
• Perform routine network maintenance and system upgrades, including patches and enhancements.
• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts and automated processes.
• Troubleshoot complex software and hardware issues escalated by tech support teams and document resolutions.
• Set up and configure user systems, including operating systems, software applications, and hardware devices.
• Support multi-shift operations in a manufacturing plant, including weekends when necessary.
• Provide technical support for IT applications, infrastructure, operating systems, and end-user productivity tools.
• Interface with corporate IT and business owners to prioritize improvement efforts.
• Support Plant Floor Systems and Corporate teams in resolving incidents and executing business continuity plans.
• Assist with the integration and long-term maintenance of applications and hardware.
• Support local network equipment in a Cisco-based environment.
• Support local servers across physical and virtual environments (Windows and Linux).
• Support Factory of Tomorrow deployments and expansion efforts using IIOT, iOS, software-defined networks, mobile, and Android-based equipment.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of experience in IT operations, technical troubleshooting, and support.
• High School Diploma / GED (required); Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
• Ability to work on-site with flexible hours, including weekends, to support multi-shift operations.
