Plant Custodian/Building Maintenance

About the role

The Custodian / Building Maintenance employee maintains a clean, safe, and well-organized facility inside and out. This position performs general custodial, housekeeping, and light maintenance duties to support daily operations, including operating lawn care and snow removal equipment, assisting with equipment maintenance, and ensuring all work areas remain clean and presentable.

Responsibilities

• Empty trash receptacles throughout the facility and clean waste containers as needed.
• Sweep, scrub, dust mop, and wet mop floors, stairways, and other walking surfaces.
• Vacuum floors, carpeting, machinery, and other designated areas.
• Dust shelves, railings, countertops, storage racks, machinery, light fixtures, and other surfaces.
• Clean sinks and restroom fixtures; replenish soap dispensers and paper products.
• Remove oil spills and maintain cleanliness in production and machine areas.
• Clean walls, windows, doors, and glass surfaces.
• Dispose of used press plates and negatives in designated recycling or disposal areas.
• Wash company delivery vehicles as needed.
• Assist with the cleaning and routine maintenance of forklifts and powered pallet jacks.
• Assist with the scheduled cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance of presses and production equipment.
• Vacuum dust and debris from motors, chain drives, delivery units, air compressors, and other press components.
• Lubricate chain drives, gears, bearings, and other moving parts according to maintenance schedules.
• Clean production areas following maintenance activities, ensuring all work areas are organized and free of debris.
• Assist with replenishing pressroom chemicals as scheduled.
• Mow and trim lawns and maintain landscaped areas.
• Weed, trim, water, and fertilize shrubs, flower beds, and decorative landscaping.
• Sweep parking lots, sidewalks, loading docks, and other exterior areas.
• Perform general cleaning and upkeep of the building exterior.
• Remove snow and apply salt or sand to sidewalks, entrances, loading areas, and parking lots to maintain safe conditions.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures while performing assigned duties.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate lawn care, snow removal, and basic maintenance equipment.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Schedule

Full-time, hourly position: Monday – Friday, 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
