Responsibilities
- Respond to problems by troubleshooting, diagnostic testing, repairing/adjusting equipment as needed, and conferring with co-workers and supervisors for advice.
- Determine the most cost-effective, timely, and efficient method for repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and maintain equipment using hand tools and power tools in a safe manner.
- Maintain troubleshooting, replacement, and repair parts for compressors, pumps, and engines.
- Use hand tools to clean, lubricate, adjust equipment, replace filters, gaskets, and other items while identifying maintenance needs.
- Comprehend and retain new policies, procedures, and methods/techniques used in the office and field, adapting to a changing environment.
- Demonstrate progress and advancement in skill level and application of knowledge.
- Apply working knowledge of pneumatic starter systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, ignition systems, and other compression-related anatomy.
- Troubleshoot and repair natural gas compressors and engines.
- Assist Field Service Crews with equipment repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Work with gearboxes (reducers and multipliers).
- Operate and maintain pumps (vertical, horizontal, Ghoulds, and Dresser Rand).
- Perform laser alignment procedures.
- Overhaul engines, compressors, and related components as needed.
- Communicate information effectively with all levels of co-workers by telephone, written form, email, or in person.
Requirements
- Understand the basic operations of production equipment such as compressors and pumps.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, focusing on teamwork and unity.
- Ability to teach others skills in an effective and cooperative manner.
- Prioritize tasks and utilize time management skills.
- Experience with modern engines and compressors used in the natural gas industry.
- Mechanical experience with pumps, engines, and compressors.
- Ability to work in an H2S environment.
- Available for call-outs (evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays) as shifts require.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to take direction from supervisors and senior team members.
- Current valid driver’s license.
- Must live within 1 hour of the plant site (Jay, Florida).
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in natural gas compressor maintenance or a related field.
- Previous experience in oil and gas plant preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot, rebuild, and align a variety of equipment including pumps, gearboxes, and natural gas compressors (gas-driven and electric-driven).
- Basic knowledge of different types and styles of bearings.
- Perform medium to heavy physical work and familiar with basic OSHA safety procedures.
- Able to perform under pressure, work within a team environment, and work with little supervision.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to move or traverse job sites, including remaining stationary for extended periods and frequently positioning oneself (e.g., stooping, kneeling, squatting).
- Occasionally ascend/descend ladders or uneven terrain.
- Ability to detect, perceive, and assess driving operations effectively (with or without corrective lenses).
- Operate a 4X4 vehicle.
- Repetitively move or position feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, and back.
- Constantly operate, use, and position hands and fingers in performance of work.
- Work atop elevated surfaces and traverse various heights.
- Lift or carry 105 lbs. or more (classified as "heavy" work, over 50 pounds).
- Frequently push and pull with a maximum force of 150 ft./lbs.
- Work in outdoor weather conditions and varying environmental conditions, including well site conditions.
Driver Requirements
- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
- Operate a company vehicle for work-related travel or receive a stipend for using a personal vehicle for company use; adherence to all traffic laws and company vehicle policies is required.
- Eligible to be insured under the company’s vehicle insurance policy.
