Plant Chemist & Environmental Tech - Power Plant

About the role

This position may be filled as a Plant Chem & Environ Tech I, II, III, or Plant Chem & Environ Tech based on qualifications and experience. The role is onsite at our Newark, Arkansas location.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control the integrity of water chemistry utilized in various plant systems.
• Collect and analyze water, oil, and coal samples from various plant systems.
• Provide testing, calibration, and maintenance of chemical and environmental equipment and instrumentation.
• Assure compliance with various regulatory permits and standards.
• Maintain inventory and supplies for the laboratory.
• Monitor the unloading of various bulk chemical trucks.
• Operate and maintain Waste Water and Potable Water plants.
• Must be willing to work overtime with little or short notice when called out to assist plant operations in shutdowns, startups, etc.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: BS degree in Chemistry, Biology, or other physical science or at least 5 years of power plant operations/chemistry experience.
• Must be able to obtain necessary licenses and certifications once in the job position.
• Must be willing to abide by all safety procedures to perform work in a safe and timely manner.
• Must be able to lift and carry moderate loads (~40 lbs) and be able to climb stairs.
• Successful completion of the EEI TECH Test (candidates selected will be invited via email).

Qualifications

• Familiarity with laboratory equipment including spectrophotometer, AA, and moisture analyzer.
• Competent interpersonal relationship skills, excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Advanced problem-solving skills and proficiency on the computer.
• Self-motivated, capable of exercising sound judgment related to chemistry decisions.
• Ability to work with diverse cultures.

Schedule

• Work schedule is (4) 10-hour days.
• Travel up to 25% may be required.
