Plant Accountant
About the role
The Plant Accountant will lead financial operations at the plant level, focusing on core accounting, cost accounting, inventory management, and fixed asset activities. They will work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Plant Leadership to enhance financial performance through accurate insights and robust controls.
Responsibilities
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and KPI reporting.
Analyze monthly financial results, providing insights on variance drivers against forecasts.
Maintain and manage standard cost systems, including product costing, BOMs, routings, labor rates, and overhead rates.
Execute the annual cost roll process and ensure accurate implementation of new cost standards.
Perform standard versus actual cost analysis and margin analysis.
Manage inventory management processes, including cycle count programs and physical inventory counts.
Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
Administer fixed asset accounting, including asset capitalization, depreciation, retirements, transfers, and reconciliations.
Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure compliance with company policies.
Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, internal controls, applicable accounting standards, and SOX requirements.
Support internal and external audits, identify control deficiencies, develop remediation plans, and track corrective actions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
Minimum 5 years of relevant and progressive finance/accounting experience.
Experience working within a manufacturing environment is required.
Strong cost accounting experience preferred.
Strong working knowledge of ERP systems; experience with SAP and OneStream.
Proven experience in cost accounting, inventory management, cycle counts, and manufacturing variance analysis.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong data analysis and reporting capabilities.
Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering.
Continuous improvement mindset with a demonstrated ability to challenge processes and drive efficiency.
Pay
Expected Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000. The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for this position. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, the geographic market of that location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education and internal peer compensation comparisons among other potential factors.
