About the Role
Supervises Production Workers and Utility Workers assigned to a designated work area, including training on processes, procedures, and documentation. Responsible for equipment set-up, production scheduling, and maintaining quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Report production supply needs to the Floor Supervisor to meet production demands.
- Notify Manufacturing Manager and Supervisor of material deficiencies affecting production output.
- Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds; lift up to 100 pounds with assistance if required.
- Organize and schedule time studies for all Plant operations with the Manufacturing Manager.
- Assign employees in designated area to meet production demands and report potential shipping delays to the Floor Supervisor.
- Perform set-ups, adjustments, and tool maintenance for machinery in assigned work area; report equipment repairs immediately to the Manufacturing Manager.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area in compliance with OSHA and Plant 1 safety regulations.
- Follow quality control standards and ensure employees conduct first piece inspections with Quality Control; monitor product quality according to ISO procedures.
- Maintain production levels by setting employee goals and reporting progress or issues to the Floor Supervisor.
- Address unusual variances in productivity with the Floor Supervisor.
- Discuss employee issues in assigned work area at monthly safety meetings.
- Inform the Floor Supervisor daily of production problems affecting shipments or downstream departments.
- Monitor scrap and Lot tracking; notify supervisor when starting a new Lot of material.
- Process accident reports promptly; notify the Manufacturing Manager if the Floor Supervisor is unavailable.
- Train and supervise Production Workers and Utility Workers on tasks in assigned work area.
- Cross-train other Assistant Supervisors on designated processes.
- Verify counts on in-process products before moving to the next step.
- Arrange materials to ensure the latest date is processed first.
- Maintain 85% productivity of established norms with 100% quality when performing indirect tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned; mandatory overtime as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Supervisory experience is a plus.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air logic breakdowns of equipment and facilities.
Physical Demands
- Alternate frequently between sitting and standing positions.
- Repetitive motion, lifting, bending, twisting, and turning required.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds; lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Work Environment
- Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.
- Noise level is usually moderate but occasionally loud.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (e.g., vinyl or latex gloves) occasionally required.
