Responsibilities
- Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with adopted building, mechanical, plumbing, and/or electrical codes; prepare written approvals or rejections in accordance with applicable standards.
- Conduct on-site construction inspections to verify compliance with approved plans and codes; coordinate corrective actions and perform follow-up inspections as needed.
- Document plan review comments, inspection results, violations, and corrections using permit tracking software and maintain accurate inspection records.
- Approve construction materials, methods, and installations to ensure compliance with adopted codes and standards.
- Serve as a departmental representative and subject-matter resource to architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors; perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant work experience in construction, design or inspections of buildings as supervisor or contractor.
- Must possess minimum of 1 inspector license and 1 plans examiner license or receive an inspector Certification within 6 months of hire and full licensure (2 total) within one year of hire.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in municipal or agency inspection, preferably in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing inspection.
