Plans Examiner
About the role
We are currently seeking a Full or Part-Time Plans Examiner to join our team in the San Anselmo, CA area.
Responsibilities
- Review building plans and specifications for compliance with codes, covering architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, energy conservation, green building standards, accessibility, and egress.
- Cook up plan reviews with other public agencies requiring approval.
- Provide detailed feedback on required corrections and modifications, and guiding applicants through the process.
- Authorize the issuance of building permits when plans meet all requirements; calculating related fees.
- Advise and assist stakeholders with the interpretation and application of building regulations, state laws, and local ordinances.
- Prepare reports for Building Officials on workload, process statistics, new products, and code interpretation issues.
- Aid at jurisdictional counters as needed, answering public inquiries about plans and permitting requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of plans examiner experience.
- Strong municipal experience.
- ICC Plans Examiner Certification (Residential and Commercial).
- In-depth knowledge of building codes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
