Join the Scale the STRAT Committee and help ensure the success of the American Lung Association’s signature Fight for Air Climb event at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower. Committee members serve as vital ambassadors for our mission, growing community engagement, fundraising, and event excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Support the event through the recruitment of individual participants, teams, and corporate sponsors.
  • Increase committee reach by identifying and engaging high-level community and corporate leaders.
  • Partner with ALAN staff and volunteers to meet event revenue and participation goals.
  • Serve on at least one event sub-committee focused on planning and execution.

Sub-Committee Descriptions

As part of your committee membership, you will serve on at least one of the following sub-committees:

Sponsorship Sub-Committee

Focus: Secure financial and in-kind support from local and regional businesses.

  • Identify and cultivate sponsor prospects.
  • Support outreach and follow-up proposal.
  • Ensure sponsor benefits are delivered pre- and post-events.

Team Recruitment Sub-Committee

Focus: Drive participation through team growth.

  • Recruit corporate and community teams.
  • Support captains with fundraising tools and encouragement.
  • Help retain and recognize teams.

Firefighter Challenge Sub-Committee

Focus: Organize and grow the firefighter stair climb challenge.

  • Recruit departments to participate in gear.
  • Coordinate pre-event communications and day-of logistics.
  • Recognize participants for their service and commitment.

Award Ceremony Sub-Committee

Focus: Plan the event-day award presentations.

  • Define award categories and gather results.
  • Coordinate scripts and speakers.
  • Help execute a meaningful and professional ceremony.

108/Entertainment Sub-Committee

Focus: Enhance the event atmosphere with music and performances.

  • Identify and recruit talent (musicians, emcees, DJs, etc.).
  • Coordinate logistics and timeline of entertainment elements.
  • Maintain an engaging, high-energy event environment.
  • Develop and implement a day-of-event checklist to ensure a safe, organized, and positive finish-line experience for all climbers.
  • Coordinate with staff, volunteers, and medical liaison to ensure emergency protocols are understood.

Weekdays (Mondays - Fridays), all day

  • Groups and individuals aged 55+ are welcome.
  • Looking for 25 volunteers to join the committee.
