Thayer Power & Communication is committed to maintaining a safe work environment and a modern, well-maintained fleet of equipment and tools, enabling reliable service to clients and stability for team members.Role Description Tower Climbers at Thayer Power & Communication perform on-site work at telecommunications and power infrastructure locations in and around Madison Heights, MI. This full-time role involves climbing and working on towers and related structures, installing, maintaining, and repairing wireless networking equipment, lines, and associated hardware. Daily tasks include using hand tools to assemble and secure equipment, troubleshooting signal and equipment issues, performing routine inspections, and documenting work performed according to company and regulatory standards. Team members follow strict safety procedures, participate in job briefings, work closely with crew leaders and project managers, and may assist with emergency repairs or after-hours service when needed.Qualifications Ability to safely and effectively use hand tools for installation, assembly, and repair tasks.Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with maintenance & repair of electrical, mechanical, or telecommunications equipment.Clear communication skills for working with team members, supervisors, and customers on job requirements and safety protocols.Knowledge of wireless networking equipment and basic understanding of tower-mounted telecommunications systems.Comfort with working at heights, including demonstrated ability to climb and work on towers using fall protection systems.Commitment to safety practices, including adherence to OSHA regulations and company safety policies.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the Madison Heights, MI worksite and surrounding project locations.Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and extended standing.Prior experience in tower climbing, telecommunications, line construction, or a related field is preferred but not required.High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in telecommunications, electrical, or safety (e.g., tower rescue, RF awareness) are a plus.
