About the role

The Planner V position involves conducting fact finding and analysis of complex planning problems, coordinating input from individuals and organizations, and developing plans affecting particular private or public activities and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts fact finding and analysis of complex planning problems, issues and policies.
  • Captures input from individuals and organizations involved in or affected by the planning process.
  • Correlates findings and develops plans affecting particular private or public activities and/or facilities throughout an assigned area of concern.
  • Compiles final summary reports and makes oral presentations before interested groups as necessary.
  • Maintains liaison and effective relationships with other agencies, public and private groups and officials.
  • May assign and review the work of subordinates.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Excess work experience as described under Experience Requirements below, or any other responsible administrative, professional or analytical work experience that provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • The education or experience background must also demonstrate the ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other documents, read and interpret complex written material and solve complex problems logically and systematically.

Qualifications

  • Basic Education/Experience Requirements: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree.

Skills

  • Knowledge of general research sources and sources of environmental socioeconomic information.
  • Ability to analyze facts and develop sound conclusions therefrom.
  • Knowledge of public planning practices.
  • Ability to integrate information including the consideration of relationships among resources, facilities, services, needs and values for the development of policy options, alternatives for action, programs and priorities to meet goals and objectives for a given geographic area of concern.
  • Ability to advise and assist agencies and administrators on planning concepts and methods, provide technical information and analysis for the formation of plans and programming of plans.
  • Ability to formulate and present plans and policy recommendations including alternatives and consequences of alternative actions to decision makers and at public hearings.
  • Supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted.
  • Completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments.
  • Favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

Pay

The advertised salary is based on full-time employment and includes shortage and school year differentials, if applicable.

Schedule

Payday is on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month.
