Planner I or II

Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Accepts, reviews, and evaluates various land use applications;
  • prepares and presents staff reports, including analysis and recommendations;
  • applies the Larimer County Land Use Code in a manner consistent with County policies and procedures;
  • assists in the analysis and drafting or refinement of land use regulations and procedures;
  • assists in the development and execution of methods to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of adopted regulations, procedures, plans, programs, and strategies;
  • conducts meetings involving the general public, special interest groups, County staff, County boards and commissions, and any others as assigned;
  • responds to requests for information from citizens, developers, and others for a wide variety of inquiries including, but not limited to, County plans, policies, procedures, regulations, and pending development and building permit applications;
  • performs special studies and projects as assigned and required.

Qualifications

  • Planner I: One (1) year of experience in professional planning or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities preferred. Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education, from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning or a related field required. Possess reliable transportation to be able to work in any County facility as needed and required.
  • Planner II: Three (3) years of experience in urban planning or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities with at least two (2) as a Planner I in Larimer County, or comparable experience, required. Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education, from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning or a related field required. Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning or a related field preferred. Possession of AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) certification preferred. Possess reliable transportation to be able to work in any County facility as needed and required.

Schedule

The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A hybrid work option may be available after the successful completion of the probationary period. Attendance at occasional night meetings is required.
