Planner
About the role
SP Industries Inc. is expanding its team in Gardiner, NY and has an immediate opening for a Planner. The role involves leading procurement and planning activities and personnel for the NY Plant, overseeing the purchasing and planning of direct and indirect goods, and supporting customer orders, materials requirements planning, supplier relationships, and end-to-end planning and fulfillment.
Responsibilities
- Execution of Planning or Purchasing standard work, in support of Supply Chain activities and the broader Revenue, Quality, and OTD goals of the organization.
- Ensure continuity of inventory or project materials in support of customer OTD and revenue, by responding to planning parameter triggers, such as ROP, EOQ, min/max, or safety stock – or by making parameter recommendations and implementation, as well as supply and demand material forecasts.
- Review and analyze MRP requirements against planned order and exception reports to determine purchasing and planning actions required against supply and demand.
- Oversight and prioritization of work or projects for all NY Buyers and Planners, in support of the annual operating plan and monthly forecast for the Plant.
- Visual Management (DVM/WVM) support and team review, driving corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee the scheduling of components and raw materials from outside suppliers to ensure that customer schedules are met, production is not interrupted due to stock-outs and inventory is kept at optimal service levels.
- SIOP leader, participant, and site owner for the planning inputs/outputs, as related to the company SIOP process.
- Measure and plan raw material and finish good inventory to budget, monitor and course correct OTD performance, as well as forecast revenue for assigned product lines, projects, or sites.
- Interfaces with Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales/Marketing, and Service frequently. Works closely with Sales/Customer Service to identify any high probability orders forecasted to meet or exceed market expected lead times.
- Takes initiative to solve supplier issues and/or part shortages, to improve long-term supplier performance and resolve stockouts, escalating when needed, and holding the team accountable for doing the same.
- Regular cadence of review of order backlog and ship date ownership, identifying and mitigating risks.
- Support supplier consolidation in alignment with SP preferred suppliers, partnering with Strategic Sourcing on tactical projects.
- Assists in the training and mentoring of new hires, as well as performance management as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 5-10 years related working experience.
- Prior experience with MS Office.
- Professional certification (or working towards), APICS or CIPS.
- Experience working in a global organization and/or in manufacturing.
- Working understanding of MRP and ERP concepts, as related to purchasing, supply and demand, and material and vendor analysis.
- Working understanding of Lean, 5S, and/or Continuous Improvement concepts or background, in support of Operations.
