About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position will be responsible for overseeing building inspections, ensuring compliance with local building codes, and providing technical guidance to developers and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all building inspections to ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance to developers, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding building code requirements and best practices.
  • Review construction plans and permits to ensure they meet local building codes and standards.
  • Conduct inspections of completed projects to ensure adherence to approved plans and specifications.
  • Issue permits and maintain records of all inspections and approvals.
  • Participate in public meetings and provide input on zoning and land use issues.
  • Respond to complaints and inquiries from the public regarding building code violations.
  • Keep abreast of changes in building codes and regulations and apply them appropriately.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection, preferably in a regulatory capacity.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and state regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Knowledge of building materials and construction techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.

Pay

$70,000 - $80,000 annually.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
