Planned Giving Officer / USA: Remote (Must Reside in Rotary Approved State)

About the role

Rotary is growing its endowment to $2.025 billion and is adding Planned Giving Officers to its team. This remote position covers a defined territory in the Midwest. The Planned Giving Officer Team focuses on consulting as a specialist on structured gift discussions, soliciting estate commitments, and stewarding high-level donors.

Responsibilities

• Develop an expert-level understanding of the mission and programs of The Rotary Foundation.
• Share enthusiasm for how Rotary is changing the world.
• Become a guru in structured gift options including Bequests, Life Income Agreements, Donor Advised Funds, asset selection, and the tax economics of charitable giving.
• Develop and maintain a portfolio of key planned giving prospects with a capacity to make gifts of US$50,000 and more.
• Work closely with colleagues and volunteers to strengthen department objectives and brainstorm innovative tactics to meet individual and group goals.
• Collaborate with volunteer committees and travel to regional Rotary Institutes, district conferences, and other Rotary events as assigned.
• Aim to make 50 donor contacts per month and 36 solicitations per year.
• Travel within the assigned region.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or advanced degree.
• Minimum 4 years of experience working in a fund development role, preferably in planned giving or endowments.
• Knowledge of planned giving vehicles such as Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Unitrusts, Individual Retirement Accounts, and Donor Advised Funds.
• Familiarity with the tax economics of charitable giving, estate law basics, and investment concepts.
• Appreciation for the wisdom and experience of mature donors; ability to develop long-term meaningful relationships while supporting their philanthropic and financial objectives.
• Base knowledge of GDPR and professional discretion regarding data and donor privacy.

Pay

Salary range $84,600 - $94,000.

This position is fully remote and may require occasional travel to world headquarters or other locations for meetings or training.
