About the role
Hampton Lumber is a thriving family-owned company seeking a Planer Supervisor Swing Shift to join our Warrenton Planer Team. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the swing shift team.
Responsibilities
- Safety - Safety orientated, people focused, and goal driven. Set and maintain all safety standards for Sawmill personnel.
- Quality - Responsible for the quality of products produced by the sawmill swing shift. Perform visual lumber quality checks and ensure the maximum value of the raw material is being extracted through using WoodSmart data.
- Production - Supervise and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in the production of logs to rough lumber. Establish standards for each machine center and compare actual results.
- Human Resources - Involve Human Resource Office in changes affecting personnel. Train and motivate employees. Maintain time sheets.
Requirements
- Experience in supervisory or lead responsibilities and/or can demonstrate professional and technical expertise.
- Correctly interpret company policies and procedures, in particular safety policies/procedures.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply the latest technologies.
- Maintain a current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects to meet production schedule.
- Ability to resolve problems and follow through with all concerned parties.
- Analyze and resolve work problems and/or assist all teammates in solving work problems.
Qualifications
- Must have the ability to learn the Sawmill manufacturing process, including the operation and troubleshooting of sawmill equipment.
- Proficient typing skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with dimension sawmill and Sawmill operations.
- Knowledge of optimization systems for a Sawmill.
- Knowledge of quality control concepts and procedures in a modern sawmilling environment.

Pay
Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Schedule Monday through Thursday. Hours may vary slightly based on needs of the operation.
