Piping/Plumbing Designer II

About the role

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) is seeking a Piping/Plumbing Designer II to join our collaborative team in Chapel Hill. The ideal candidate will convert system design concepts into specific layouts using AutoCAD and/or REVIT, interpret design criteria, and ensure compliance with applicable design codes and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Convert system design concepts into specific layouts by interpreting information set forth in basis of design and gathering data from users, project partners, field surveys, and code research.
• Expertise in at least one discipline area such as fire protection, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing/piping, or process systems.
• Use computer operation for engineering design programs, including proficiency in AutoCAD and/or REVIT, and Navisworks experience preferred.
• Interpret design criteria and convert it into specific layouts, ensuring compliance with applicable design codes and specification requirements.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively both independently and within teams.

Requirements

• Technical or Associate Degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or architectural design from an accredited technical institution or college, or commensurate experience.
• Fundamental knowledge of building systems.
• Proven experience in at least one discipline area such as fire protection, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing/piping, or process systems.
• Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs, including proficiency in AutoCAD and/or REVIT, and Navisworks experience preferred.
• Understanding of applicable design codes and specification requirements.
• Effective spoken and written communications skills.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Quick technical comprehension and motivation focused on client outcomes.
• Able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
• Effective working individually and within team environments.
