Responsibilities
- Develop, model, and maintain complex 3D piping layouts using CADWorx, strictly adhering to project specifications, material requirements, and equipment interfaces.
- Read, interpret, and translate P&IDs, vendor drawings, and engineering documentation into precise design deliverables.
- Lead designated portions of project scope, offering technical input on system operability, model quality, and overall layout efficiency.
- Coordinate directly with engineers, cross-functional discipline teams, and workshare partners to resolve design conflicts and optimize space management.
- Support project planning by contributing technical insights to scope estimating, change-management discussions, and deliverable reviews.
- Conduct QA/QC model health reviews to maintain drawing accuracy, specification compliance, and overall deliverable consistency.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Associate’s degree in Design Technology (or equivalent practical experience) paired with 10+ years of piping design experience in industrial settings (e.g., Semiconductor, Oil & Gas, Chemical, or Pharmaceutical).
Technical Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of recent, active CADWorx usage for 3D piping design and modeling.
Core Competencies
- Proficient in reading P&IDs and vendor prints, with a deep understanding of piping specifications, material selection, equipment interfaces, and physical layout fundamentals.
Soft Skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage design tasks independently under minimal supervision, paired with strong organizational and clear written/verbal communication skills.
Logistics
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule (2 days weekly on-site) within 50 miles of a Jacobs office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or a related field.
- Direct design experience within semiconductor manufacturing facilities.
- Advanced CADWorx expertise, including specification building, troubleshooting, and model management.
- Working knowledge of pipe stress considerations and their impact on support placement and line routing.
- Proven leadership experience guiding design teams, conducting QA/QC workflows, and ensuring overall deliverable quality.
