About the Role
ONEOK, a Fortune 500 company with over 100 years in business, is seeking a Pipeline Operator – Associate to support safe, reliable operations and maintenance activities for pipeline systems within our Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) segment. Based in Miltonvale or Hutchinson, Kansas, this on-site role will assist with day-to-day pipeline operations, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist with startup and shutdown activities, pigging, gauging tanks, collecting liquids, locating and marking lines, and monitoring cathodic protection.
- Conduct pipeline patrols and leakage surveys, support construction watch activities, and maintain vehicles and equipment.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations and monitor/replace lubricants, fluids, inhibitors, and chemicals as needed.
- Compile operational and maintenance information, prepare reports related to flow and quality, samples, pipeline and corrosion activities, repair logs, construction inspection, and regulatory requirements.
- Use tools, equipment, computers, and related software to perform tasks and apply basic arithmetic for calculations.
- Communicate clearly with internal teams, customer groups, and stakeholders, prioritizing assignments effectively.
Requirements
- Ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments, perform physically demanding work, and respond immediately to potential hazardous conditions.
- Willingness to work on-call responsibilities every other week or every third week, and live within approximately 45 minutes of the assigned work location in Miltonvale or Hutchinson.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required for project work, primarily within the assigned coverage area.
Qualifications

- Computer proficiency, mechanical aptitude, reliability, and a commitment to safety.
- While direct pipeline experience is helpful, leaders are willing to train candidates who demonstrate a strong culture fit and meet the above qualifications.
Skills
- Knowledge of cathodic protection/corrosion control activities.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and complete tasks in a timely manner with supervision.
- Proficiency in using tools, equipment, computers, and related software.
- Basic arithmetic skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Physical Demands
- Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, handling, and fingering; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Constant near and far vision, depth perception, color vision, and exposure to computer monitors.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, gases, moving mechanical parts, and high-pitched/loud noises.
- Potential for electric shock, prolonged vibration, and unprotected heights.
Pay
Expected Salary Range: $62,000.00 - $92,000.00
