ONEOK is seeking a Pipeline Operator – Associate to support safe, reliable operations and maintenance activities for pipeline systems within our Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) segment. Based in Miltonvale or Hutchinson, Kansas, this on-site role assists with day-to-day pipeline operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with and/or perform operations and maintenance activities on systems including compressor stations, gas storages, dehydration facilities, pumping facilities, measurement facilities, and related equipment, such as:
    • Startup and shutdown
    • Pigging
    • Collecting liquids
    • Changing charts
    • Gauging tanks
    • Locating and marking lines
    • Monitoring cathodic protection/basic pipe coatings
    • Leakage survey/patrolling pipelines
    • Blowing drips
    • Dispatching line locates
    • Construction watch
  • Monitor usage and/or replace lubricants, fluids, inhibitors, chemicals, etc., as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment
  • Assist in calculations, compile, and/or prepare information and reports including:
    • Gas/liquid flow and quality
    • Maintenance and/or repair logs
    • Samples (gas/liquids)
    • Pipeline/corrosion activities
    • Appropriate regulatory requirements
    • Construction inspection
  • Drive and ensure maintenance is complete on company vehicles
  • React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others
  • Respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, where impaired performance could result in serious injury or property damage

Requirements

  • Experience, training, and/or knowledge of:
    • Company and governmental operating/safety procedures and environmental regulations
    • Characteristics of natural gas and liquids
    • Pigging pipelines, blowing drips, gauging tanks, and collecting liquids
    • Construction methods
  • Knowledge of cathodic protection/corrosion control activities
  • Ability to:
    • Establish, prioritize assignments and complete them in a timely manner with supervision
    • Interact, negotiate, communicate, and exchange written and verbal information and instructions
    • Use tools and equipment including computers and related software
    • Apply basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
  • Comfortable working in outdoor and industrial environments
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work
  • Live within approximately 45 minutes of the assigned work location in Miltonvale or Hutchinson, Kansas
  • Valid driver’s license (company vehicle may be assigned)

Physical Demands

  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly
  • Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, near and far vision, depth perception, color vision, and use of hands for handling, fingering, and feeling
  • Occasional sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting/smelling
  • Constant reaching
  • Frequent repetitive motion and prolonged exposure to CRT (Computer Monitor)

Working Conditions

  • Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions
  • Frequent exposure to:
    • Well-lighted, climate-controlled areas
    • Outdoor weather conditions
    • Wet or humid conditions (not weather-related)
    • Extreme cold and heat (not weather-related)
    • Dust, fumes, gases

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, typically eight hours per day
  • On-call responsibilities every other week or every third week
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required for project work, mostly during the day within the assigned coverage area
  • Travel to other locations up to 30% in assigned geographic region(s)

Pay

Expected salary range: $62,000.00 - $92,000.00
